Job description
About the Organization
DanceOne operates a leading North American platform for dance competitions, conventions, and learning experiences. Its brands support dancers, educators, studios, and families through live events, digital offerings, and community-focused engagement.
Role Overview
This is a senior technology leadership role reporting to the Chief Financial Officer. The Vice President of Information Technology will act as a hands-on technology executive responsible for shaping and delivering the company’s technology direction across a global, decentralized live-events business.
The scope includes a wide mix of enterprise tools such as Microsoft 365, NetSuite, Planful, Ramp, FloQast, Salesforce, ADP, Atlassian/Jira, Monday.com, Snowflake, and AWS, plus proprietary internal systems used for event registration, media distribution, and content production. The environment currently has overlapping software, manual and spreadsheet-based processes, fragmented approvals, inconsistent reporting, and data quality challenges. The role exists to introduce structure, integration, strong governance, and reliable data across the organization.
The position will manage one direct report, an IT Operations Manager who also leads the help desk, and will work closely with the CFO, executive team, business leaders, and external vendors and consultants.
Initial Priorities
- Create a unified technology strategy for the company by reducing redundant spending, consolidating overlapping tools, and ensuring the overall platform architecture supports scale and better use of existing investments.
- Own project planning, RFP activity, and vendor strategy by assessing current systems and future needs, defining requirements and implementation plans, and turning business goals into actionable technology recommendations.
- Build a dependable single source of truth by improving governance, data standards, controls, and reporting so leadership can trust the information used for decision-making and performance tracking.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the CFO’s main technology partner and the most senior IT leader in the organization.
- Oversee the full technology portfolio, including productivity tools, finance systems, CRM, HRIS/payroll, collaboration, networking, data platforms, and proprietary event applications.
- Lead, coach, and develop the IT Operations Manager and the broader IT support function.
- Manage IT security, identity and access controls, and network reliability across offices and event settings.
- Design and support integrations and data movement between critical business systems.
- Drive new and ongoing technology initiatives, including migrations, platform rationalization, and operational improvements.
- Set governance standards for documentation, software licensing, security, budgeting, and vendor oversight.
- Work with finance, operations, marketing, HR, and event production teams to identify and deliver practical technology solutions.
- Provide executive visibility through technology roadmaps, KPI reporting, and budget management.
Required Experience and Qualifications
- 12 to 15 years of advancing technology experience, including senior leadership and organization-wide strategy responsibilities.
- Proven ability to build and execute technology strategy across multiple business functions.
- Track record of simplifying technology landscapes, consolidating systems, and improving efficiency.
- Strong background in project management, RFPs, and vendor management.
- Practical experience administering enterprise applications such as ERP, HRIS/payroll, CRM, and other SaaS products.
- Deep knowledge of data management, reporting, system integrations, and business intelligence.
- Excellent verbal and presentation skills, with experience supporting executive and board-level decisions.
- Experience working in global, multi-entity, or highly decentralized organizations.
- Demonstrated ability to manage and develop technical teams.
Preferred Background
- Exposure to programming, SQL, APIs, scripting, or application development.
- Experience supporting finance teams and financial systems.
- Familiarity with Microsoft 365, NetSuite, Planful, Ramp, FloQast, Salesforce, Snowflake, AWS, Atlassian/Jira, Monday.com, and ADP.
- Background in live events, entertainment, media, hospitality, or similarly seasonal and operationally complex industries.
Education and Certifications
A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related discipline is required, though equivalent hands-on experience will also be considered. An MBA, master’s degree, or other advanced education is preferred. Helpful certifications include PMP, ITIL, TOGAF, AWS, Azure, CISSP, or CISM.
Who You Are
- A strategic leader who can speak comfortably about both business priorities and technical solutions.
- A practical, accountable problem solver who takes ownership and drives execution.
- Highly organized and able to bring structure to fast-changing, decentralized environments.
- Committed to accurate data, strong governance, and operational excellence.
- An effective bridge between technology teams and business stakeholders.
- Focused on simplification, integration, and long-term scalability over unnecessary complexity.
Location and Travel
This role is fully remote within the United States and requires availability during Eastern Time business hours. Occasional travel will be needed for leadership meetings, company events, and strategic initiatives.
Compensation and Benefits
The position offers a competitive executive compensation package based on experience, plus an annual performance bonus opportunity. Benefits include medical, dental, and vision coverage, a 401(k) with company match, paid time off, company holidays, and access to employee programs and professional development resources.
