About the Role
Chipotle is looking for a Vice President of Design and Construction to lead its global restaurant design strategy. This executive role is responsible for making sure restaurant concepts support broader business goals, reflect the brand identity, and can be rolled out consistently across markets. The position offers the chance to help shape a fast-growing organization from a highly visible leadership seat.
What You Will Do
- Direct the Center of Excellence, the CCC Development Lab, and all internal global Design & Construction team members.
- Ensure restaurant concepts follow established design principles and maintain strong brand expression.
- Drive strategic and special initiatives that shape the restaurant environment, partnering with cross-functional teams to bring them to completion.
- Guide the selection and evaluation of materials, furniture, fixtures, lighting, equipment vendors, and other outside partners so they align with brand standards.
- Choose external service providers needed to deliver company objectives and Center of Excellence priorities.
- Oversee global Design & Construction operations, including relationships with consultants, general contractors, and design vendors.
- Work closely with development field teams so new concepts are translated accurately into rollout-ready packages.
- Influence the guest experience and creative direction of the restaurant environment across all locations.
What We Are Looking For
- A bachelor’s degree in Design, Architecture, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline.
- A master’s degree in Design, Architecture, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Architectural licensure is preferred but not mandatory.
- At least 15 years of progressive leadership experience and field expertise in Architecture, Construction, Engineering, Restaurant Design, and/or Retail Design.
- At least 8 years of supervisory experience in Design and/or Construction.
- Strong working knowledge of design tools such as Revit, AutoCAD, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Cloud, and hand sketching.
- Practical understanding of restaurant operations, finance, and marketing.
- Proven ability to lead high-performing creative teams.
- Excellent cross-functional influence skills and the ability to work independently across design, development, and deployment efforts.
- Strong capability to assess project cost components related to architecture and design.
- Advanced communication, planning, collaboration, decision-making, and project management skills.
Compensation and Benefits
The estimated base salary for this position is $275,000 to $325,000 per year. The role is also eligible for annual cash bonuses and equity awards, depending on performance and other factors.
