The position is based in Poole, England, United Kingdom, and comes with the possibility of earning up to £50,000 per year when overtime is included.
Working pattern
This is a full-time role of 39.5 hours per week, excluding meal breaks. The shift rota runs on a three-week rotating pattern: weeks 1 and 2 are 06:00 to 14:24, and week 3 is 10:06 to 18:30. You will also be expected to work one Saturday out of every three, with a weekday day off in return.
Compensation and benefits
- Annual pay of £40,906.
- An extra Saturday payment of £53.66 per shift.
- A welcome bonus of £1,500 may be available, subject to conditions.
- 22.5 days of holiday each year plus bank holidays, increasing with service, and there is an option to buy additional leave.
- Company pension arrangement with employer matching, along with other financial benefits.
- Personal development support through a tailored annual training and development plan.
- Protective workwear and branded clothing are provided, including overalls and steel-toe boots.
- Employee discounts are available across shopping, technology, travel, outings, and social activities for you and your family.
Key responsibilities
You will carry out a wide range of inspections, diagnostics, servicing, maintenance, and repair work across vehicles, trailers, and mechanical equipment. The role includes using your own toolkit for routine repair tasks on light and heavy goods vehicles, while also working with specialist tools and shared workshop equipment in a modern facility.
Candidate profile
The ideal candidate is a fully qualified mechanic at IMI Level 3 in light or heavy vehicles, or holds an equivalent qualification. You should have your own toolkit for standard repairs, along with proven experience as a vehicle technician across a broad range of vehicles such as LCVs and HGVs. A full manual UK driving licence is required. Strong workmanship standards, a pride in doing the job properly, and flexibility to work a rotating shift pattern are all essential.
