Job description

Role overview

This position belongs to the Currency Management function and supports cash operations at Cash Processing Centers. The main objective is to keep branches and ATMs sufficiently funded so that cash shortages do not occur.

Key responsibilities

  • Carry out cash sorting every day within the defined turnaround time, ensuring no pending work and making efficient use of NSM capacity and available resources.
  • Maintain strict dual custody of the vault at all times.
  • Keep all registers accurately updated and ensure every entry has dual authorization.
  • Provide periodic training to branches on the security features of Indian banknotes.
  • Open the vault on time and make cash available to the CIT custodian without delay.
  • Ensure branch-wise cash is dispensed correctly and without errors.
  • Oversee sorting activities in the processing room and confirm that cash is classified according to internal standards.
  • Assess mutilated notes in line with RBI norms and NRR guidelines.
  • Monitor cash movement in and out of the chest vault and perform balancing checks throughout the day.
  • Use NRR knowledge to adjudicate notes and help secure full value during RBI remittances.
  • Maintain key registers and manage keys carefully and properly.
  • Track discrepancies, and ensure acknowledgment for discrepancies is shared with branches and vendors.
  • Individually inspect suspect notes for missing security features and impound forged notes using the appropriate stamp.
  • Work with the Currency Control Unit to improve vault operations and sorting processes.
  • Follow the rule that duplicate vault keys are stored at an offsite location and exchanged every six months.

Education qualification

Graduates with a B.Com, B.Sc, BA, BBI, or BMS background are eligible. Postgraduate qualifications such as MBA, M.Com, or MA are also accepted.

Experience required

The role calls for 2 to 5 years of relevant experience in Currency Management.
