Role Overview
The Valet Parking Attendant is responsible for creating a polished guest experience by safely returning and parking vehicles, greeting visitors, saying goodbye in a professional way, and helping with shopping parcels. The role also includes giving directions, assisting with other guest needs, and suggesting extra services such as car washes. It suits someone who naturally enjoys working with people, contributes positively to a team, and helps maintain a strong service culture.
This position follows a fixed roster and includes at least one weekend day off each week, offering a balance of structured hours and premium customer service work.
Key Responsibilities
- Build a connected and supportive team environment that reinforces service standards and workplace culture.
- Communicate and coordinate effectively with colleagues to deliver a smooth guest journey.
- Follow safety procedures and workplace protocols at all times to protect guests and staff.
- Escalate incidents, concerns, or operational issues promptly to the right people.
- Take part in training and development activities to keep service and safety standards high.
- Drive, retrieve, park, and return guest vehicles with care, accuracy, and efficiency.
- Maintain a high level of professionalism and caution when operating and manoeuvring different vehicles.
- Welcome guests warmly, provide a courteous farewell, and make sure they have a strong first and last impression.
- Assist with directions, parcel handling, and a range of guest service requests.
- Actively promote extra services, including car washes, to improve the overall guest experience.
- Deliver service to Chadstone’s expected standards even when working in a busy, fast-moving setting.
- Stay organised by prioritising tasks and managing multiple guest needs at the same time.
Experience and Skills Needed
- A current driver’s licence and a spotless driving history.
- Previous valet parking experience or another customer-facing role with a strong service focus.
- Experience in a physically active position, with the ability to cover 15,000+ steps per day.
- Good knowledge of safe driving techniques, vehicle parking, manoeuvring, and valet safety practices.
- Confidence handling guest questions in person and by phone, along with the ability to remember large amounts of store information, including 500+ locations.
- Strong communication skills for speaking clearly, politely, and professionally with guests.
- Ability to manage vehicle handling, parcel support, and guest enquiries while staying calm under pressure.
- Careful attention to detail when driving, assisting guests, and handling their belongings.
- Ability to work well with others and contribute to a positive, service-oriented team.
- Respect for company policies, safety rules, and legal responsibilities.
