What the Job Involves
On a day-to-day basis, the tutor will prepare lesson plans and study materials, lead interactive virtual classes, assign and check practice exercises, and monitor learner progress. The role includes explaining concepts clearly, supporting exam preparation, and strengthening core skills in areas such as algebra, general mathematics, and applied science or technology topics.
The tutor will also stay in regular contact with learners and, when relevant, guardians or program coordinators to provide updates, suggest study approaches, and help learners set academic goals.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate should have strong mastery of Mathematics and Algebra and be able to break down ideas into simple, step-by-step explanations. Experience in tutoring, especially online tutoring, is important, along with the ability to plan lessons and adapt instruction to different ability levels.
Strong communication skills are required, including active listening, clear speaking and writing, and giving helpful feedback. A background in Science, Agriculture, Technology, or a related discipline is valuable, particularly if the candidate can connect theory to practical, real-world situations.
Candidates should be comfortable working with online teaching platforms, digital whiteboards, and other virtual collaboration tools. The role calls for someone who is organized, patient, learner-focused, and respectful of different learning styles and needs.
A bachelor’s degree, or current enrollment in Mathematics, Education, Science, Agriculture, Engineering, Technology, or a closely related field, is preferred. Prior experience in online teaching, mentoring, or coaching would be an added advantage.
