Role overview
Kinaxia Logistics Limited is hiring a Transport Planner for its Colchester site. In this position, you will organize collection and delivery schedules in the most cost-effective way possible while keeping service levels high and staying compliant with current legal requirements.
Working pattern
- Monday to Saturday
- Monday to Friday: 09:00 to 17:00
- Saturday: 08:00 to 13:00

Key responsibilities
- Use IT platforms, transport management systems and customer portals to deploy vehicles and staff efficiently.
- Make the best use of the fleet by assigning drivers, vehicles, trailers, deliveries and backloads accurately.
- Coordinate with the workshop so vehicles and trailers are ready when needed, service work is built into planning, and any availability risks are escalated promptly.
- Share transport plans with the team to support efficient operations and strong customer service.
- Manage workforce levels, including agency cover, so the daily plan can be delivered without staffing gaps.
- Work with customers to understand and support their schedules, and ensure timely handovers to the right people when delays occur.
- Plan next-day deliveries, provide rates and quotations, and process bookings to meet customer expectations.
- Support colleagues through teamwork and cross-training so cover can be provided during absences.
- Look for and communicate improvements that help strengthen operational performance.
- Maintain high standards of housekeeping and follow all health and safety requirements to keep the workplace clean, safe and orderly.
Experience and knowledge
- Practical understanding of the Highway Code, EU tachograph rules, Working Time Regulations and road transport regulations.
- Familiarity with transport operating systems.
- Good geographical awareness.
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations.
- Relevant experience in transport and planning.
- Ability to analyse logistics issues and find effective solutions.
