About the Company
Severn Transport Services is an award-winning palletised freight distribution business headquartered in Welshpool. The company is also a shareholder member of the Pallex and Fortec Distribution Networks.
Role Overview
The business is looking for a Transport Planner / Transport Coordinator to join its approachable team in a practical, hands-on role within a busy traffic and pallet network operation. The successful person will be responsible for planning and coordinating pallet deliveries across the TF, SY and LD postcode areas.
Working Pattern
This position follows a rotating shift pattern that changes every alternate week: 5:00 am to 3:00 pm and 8:00 am to 6:00 pm.
Candidate Profile
The ideal applicant will bring transport-sector experience, strong communication and organisational ability, a proactive mindset, and the confidence to work independently in a fast-moving environment. Good telephone etiquette and computer skills are important, and familiarity with Outlook, Excel and Word is expected. Experience in multi-drop transport planning and pallet networks would be helpful, though it is not mandatory. Training will be provided on the transport management and vehicle tracking systems.
Main Duties
This role covers route planning, load building, fleet utilisation and day-to-day communication with drivers, customers, and network partners. It also includes handling delivery issues as they arise, supporting the operations team, and managing the movement and documentation of pallets and consignments, including European and Irish shipments.
Additional Details
The position is full-time and permanent. The salary is described as excellent and will depend on experience. There is also room to progress within the company.
