Chevron Australia Downstream also runs three product import terminals and supports sectors such as mining, resources, agriculture, transport, marine and aviation. Its services include bulk fuel supply, oils and lubricants, fuel equipment solutions, customised fleet fuel card programs, and specialist guidance on fuel management plus health and safety.

Chevron’s purpose is rooted in the belief that people can solve major challenges, including meeting today’s energy needs while moving toward a cleaner energy future.

Role overview

Chevron Australia Downstream is seeking a Terminal Operator for its Mackay Terminal. This is a practical, site-based position focused on making terminal activities safe, compliant and efficient. The role supports product transfers, inventory control, equipment inspections and customer service at a key operating location.

This is a full-time Monday to Friday position. Additional hours may be needed when vessel receipts or other terminal tasks occur during evenings, weekends or public holidays.

Why join Chevron

  • Employee Assistance Program support for you and your family
  • Opportunity to work with a respected national energy company known for operational excellence and a strong safety culture

Key responsibilities

  • Complete tank-to-tank transfers when needed
  • Issue permits, manage contractor activities and uphold safe work practices across the site

  • Support tanker drivers at gantry loading systems and conduct driver inductions and assessments
  • Spot operational problems, raise safety issues and contribute to improvement initiatives

What you’ll bring

The ideal candidate will have a practical background, a strong focus on safety and an openness to learning. You should be dependable, comfortable working in a hands-on operational setting and able to work well in a team where detail matters.

  • Experience in terminal operations, industrial operations, maintenance or another hands-on environment
  • A qualification in operations, mechanical trade or a related field will be an advantage
  • Strong commitment to safety, compliance and following procedures
  • Clear communication skills and the ability to work effectively with internal teams, contractors and drivers
  • Strong discipline, reliability and attention to detail
  • Background in fuel, chemical, shipping or other major hazard facility environments will be considered beneficial

Additional benefits and conditions

The successful candidate may be eligible for additional benefits, subject to meeting the relevant criteria.

  • Paid parental leave: 14 weeks of full pay for the primary carer and 2 weeks of full pay for the secondary carer
  • Employer superannuation contributions above the statutory minimum
  • Health and wellbeing support, including fitness membership reimbursement and counselling through the Employee Assistance Program
  • Education support and 24 hours of study leave each year
  • Extra leave options for compassionate leave, family and domestic violence leave, defence reserve leave and community service
  • Death insurance benefit

  • Fuel discount after probation
  • Vehicle allowance and novated lease options for designated roles only
  • Recreation club access and social events such as Melbourne Cup lunch, year-end celebration, fun runs and trivia nights
  • Access to employee networks focused on diversity dimensions including gender, race, sexual orientation, age, disability, military service and nationality

Inclusion and workplace commitment

Chevron Australia welcomes applicants from all backgrounds and encourages people of all abilities, genders, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, culturally diverse communities, LGBTIQ+ people and all age groups to apply.
