Role overview
This maintenance technician position is based in Athens, Georgia, and follows a Tuesday through Saturday schedule from 3:00 PM to 11:30 PM. The role supports the upkeep, troubleshooting, repair, and improvement of equipment and systems tied to manufacturing operations. Work may involve high-speed filling and packaging lines, fermentation and bioreactors, autoclaves, clean utilities, clean-room HVAC, power plant and utility systems, automation, freeze dryers, and related mechanical and electrical assets.

Key responsibilities
- Complete maintenance work orders in SAP promptly and keep the status updated, including reference information such as parts management details, PM plans, and maintenance history.
- Help build individual training plans to strengthen knowledge across maintenance and plant operations, and mentor less experienced technicians.
- Diagnose equipment and system issues independently and support root-cause analysis to identify why failures occur.
- Support the execution and improvement of preventive maintenance plans.
- Assist external contractors on medium-complexity projects or when extra labor is needed.
- Participate in cross-functional improvement efforts aimed at boosting equipment performance and reliability.
- Respond independently to maintenance emergencies.
- Troubleshoot equipment performance problems and carry out corrective actions.
Requirements
- High school diploma with at least 5 years of manufacturing experience, preferably in pharmaceuticals.
- Associate degree or technical diploma in a relevant field with at least 2 years of manufacturing experience, preferably in pharmaceuticals.
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field with at least 1 year of experience in manufacturing, preferably in a regulated environment.
- Working knowledge of environmental, health, and safety requirements.
- Intermediate troubleshooting and problem-solving ability.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Comfort using computers and maintenance-related systems.
- Intermediate continuous improvement capability.
- Basic to intermediate data analytics skills.
- Basic coaching or mentoring ability.
- Ability to read blueprints and P&IDs.
