Crest Environmental Services is a fast-expanding decommissioning specialist working across Europe and internationally. Known for delivering dependable, quality-focused results, the company serves a broad client base in demanding industrial settings. Its main services include demolition and dismantling, decontamination, hazardous waste removal, asset recovery, and land remediation. The organisation places strong emphasis on safe, efficient, and compliant delivery, and offers team members the chance to contribute to varied, technically complex projects in a professional safety-led environment.
Role Summary
This full-time, on-site position in Ellesmere Port involves the cleaning and decontamination of industrial tanks, vessels, and associated equipment while following company methods and all required safety controls. The role is hands-on and operational, with a focus on working safely in controlled industrial environments and meeting quality expectations.
Key Duties
- Prepare work zones and set up the equipment needed for tank cleaning and decontamination activities.
- Operate cleaning tools and systems, including pumps and high-pressure jetting equipment where required.
- Enter confined spaces only under the correct permit conditions and safety procedures.
- Remove sludge, residue, and other contaminants from tanks, vessels, and related assets.
- Manage waste materials so they are disposed of or treated safely and in line with regulations.
- Work with hazardous substances while following strict decontamination methods and protective controls.
- Wear and use the appropriate personal protective equipment at all times.
- Complete required job records and documentation accurately.
- Assist with inspections and work closely with supervisors and colleagues to keep work safe, efficient, and to standard.
Required Experience and Knowledge
Candidates should ideally have hands-on experience in industrial cleaning, tank or vessel cleaning, or comparable heavy industrial work, preferably in oil, chemical, or decommissioning settings. A strong grasp of health and safety practices is important, especially around hazardous materials, lockout/tagout procedures, and the safe handling of waste. Experience with decontamination work, industrial cleaning machinery, pumps, or high-pressure jetting is an advantage.
Other Requirements
- Ability to work in confined spaces and at height, with the relevant certification or a willingness to obtain it, such as Confined Space Entry and Working at Height.
- Good physical condition and stamina for manual tasks, including lifting, climbing, and working in challenging conditions and changing weather.
- Dependable team player with clear communication skills and the ability to follow instructions and safety rules closely.
- Flexibility to work shifts, overtime, and occasional weekends based on project demands.
- Valid driving licence and the ability to travel between sites if needed.
- Safety credentials such as CSCS, CCNG, or Safety Passport are helpful, as is experience in decommissioning, demolition, or hazardous waste environments, though these are not mandatory.
