Role Summary
This is a full-time, on-site position in Nairobi County, Kenya. The Student Recruitment Counsellor will support prospective students and their families through the university search and admissions journey. The role begins with consultations and needs assessment, followed by guidance on suitable study destinations and institutions. It also includes conducting presentations, workshops, and information sessions, handling inquiries, and keeping in regular contact with students during the application and visa stages.
Key Duties
- Guide students and parents through course and university selection based on their goals, strengths, and needs.
- Carry out initial consultations and assess each applicant’s academic and personal requirements.
- Recommend appropriate study destinations and institutions for international education plans.
- Plan and deliver workshops, presentations, and informational sessions for individuals and groups.
- Respond to student inquiries promptly and maintain ongoing communication throughout the process.
- Track and manage leads, follow up with prospects, and support application progression.
- Assist students with document preparation and ensure records are entered accurately in recruitment and CRM systems.
- Work with university partners, take part in education fairs and school visits, and contribute to student outreach efforts.
- Support strategies that help expand the student pipeline and improve recruitment outcomes.
Requirements
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities, with strong active listening skills.
- Confidence in creating and presenting workshops, talks, and information sessions.
- Background in recruitment or student recruitment, ideally within education consulting, admissions, or a similar environment.
- Ability to train and coach students on applications, interviews, and pre-departure preparation.
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Counseling, Communications, International Relations, or a closely related area.
- Working knowledge of international higher education systems and admissions procedures for the UK, USA, Canada, Australia, Europe, and similar destinations.
- Proven ability to build strong relationships, handle several student cases at once, and work toward recruitment targets ethically.
- Comfort using standard office tools along with CRM or student management software.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Willingness to work on site in Nairobi County in a student-facing role and collaborate with diverse teams.
