Job description

Role overview

A small and welcoming team in Suffolk is looking for a full-time Stud Hand to support the day-to-day running of a thoroughbred stud farm. The position involves hands-on horse care, general yard duties, and practical farm support within the stud sector.

Working pattern

This is a full-time role based on 5.5 days per week.

Key duties

  • Carry out routine yard tasks such as mucking out, turning horses out, bringing them in, grooming, and keeping the yard in good order.
  • Provide daily care for mares, foals, and young horses.
  • Support sales preparation activities and accompany horses to sales when needed.
  • Assist with foaling duties and help with weaning where required.
  • Drive horseboxes and tractors and operate farm machinery.

Requirements

The right person must have prior experience working on a thoroughbred stud farm and be confident with the daily care of foals through to yearlings. A clean full UK driving licence is essential, and applicants must have the legal right to work in the UK.
