About the Role
This opportunity is located in Christchurch, New Zealand. The position is for a senior structural engineer to lead and support a small team while contributing to the design, assessment, and monitoring of building projects.
Candidate Profile
- Possesses a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering with at least eight years of diverse experience, demonstrating notable success in structural engineering or related civil projects.
- Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) status is preferred.
- Knowledge and experience related to seismic design and assessment is advantageous.
- Strong command of written and spoken English complemented by excellent technical report writing abilities.
- Professional in appearance with a collaborative team spirit, capable of independent work.
- Thorough understanding of New Zealand building codes and standards.
- Excellent analytical capabilities and computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and Spacegass software.
- Well-developed interpersonal skills with abilities in sales and business development, supported by an extensive professional network.
- Possesses qualities of trustworthiness, reliability, loyalty, and a strong ambition to succeed and excel.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead a small group of 3-4 structural engineers, providing mentorship and support.
- Conduct structural assessments and prepare related reports.
- Design structural components for various types of buildings.
- Oversee construction monitoring to ensure quality standards are met.
- Ensure quality control throughout projects and implement improvements as necessary.
- Engage and communicate effectively with clients, company management, colleagues, and subordinates.
- Review work produced by junior and intermediate engineers to maintain standards.
- Drive business development initiatives to grow the client base, particularly within commercial and industrial sectors.
