Job description

About the company

Axion, founded in 2021, builds an AI-driven platform that helps manufacturers improve product quality and customer outcomes. Its software is designed to identify, investigate, and resolve quality issues quickly while helping teams strengthen post-market performance across industrial, aerospace, consumer, and medtech environments. Supported by investors such as Bessemer Venture Partners, Amplo, Boeing, and RTX Ventures, the company is focused on advancing end-to-end quality intelligence for modern manufacturing.

Role overview

The Strategic Finance Analyst position is a hands-on opportunity for an early-career finance professional who enjoys working across analysis, planning, and cross-functional support. The role involves contributing to financial models, reporting, business planning, and operational finance work while collaborating with teams such as Sales, Marketing, People, EPD, and RevOps. The company also expects strong curiosity around AI tools and encourages their use to improve finance workflows.

What you'll work on

  • Build and support financial models covering revenue forecasts, staffing plans, and cost analyses.
  • Prepare board and investor materials by gathering data, analyzing variances, and formatting outputs.
  • Update and refine dashboards that help leadership track revenue, burn, and other core operating metrics.
  • Assist with go-to-market planning and pipeline analysis alongside Sales and RevOps.
  • Contribute to fundraising and strategic finance projects through supporting analyses and presentation materials.
  • Partner with internal teams on budgeting and headcount planning.
  • Monitor and assess vendor spend to support cost discipline.
  • Help with the monthly accounting close and routine finance operations.
  • Take on ad hoc assignments such as market research, compensation benchmarking, and pricing analysis.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline finance processes, especially through AI-enabled tools.

Candidate profile

The ideal hire is a detail-focused, adaptable problem solver who can move comfortably between strategy and execution. Axion values ownership, direct communication, collaboration, and speed. The team environment is fast-paced, highly accountable, and built for people who can work with ambiguity, operate without excessive direction, and keep a high quality bar.

Ways of working

The company operates with a strong pace and a high-performance mindset. It is not positioned as a standard 9-to-5 environment; while time off and boundaries are respected, the role may occasionally require evening or weekend effort when business needs demand it. Communication is highly collaborative and often takes place over Slack, with an emphasis on quick iteration, clear updates, and open feedback.

What the company offers

  • Exposure to advanced AI technology with real impact in manufacturing.
  • A supportive, mission-oriented team and leadership group.
  • Generous paid time off.
  • Competitive pay, equity, and benefits.
  • Lunch stipend and additional benefits.

Equal opportunity statement

Axion is an equal opportunity and affirmative action employer. All qualified candidates are considered without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, age, national origin, disability, protected veteran status, gender identity, or any other legally protected status.

Experience and qualifications

This role is intended for someone with 0 to 2 years of experience in finance, investment banking, FP&A, or another analytical function. Strong Excel capability, financial modeling skill, careful attention to detail, and the ability to explain numbers clearly to non-finance stakeholders are important. Candidates should also be comfortable with ambiguity, willing to take on work beyond a narrow scope, and interested in how AI can improve finance operations.
