Role overview

This position is for an experienced steelfixer to join a structural steel fabrication and construction business operating in regional New South Wales. The work is based in Wagga Wagga, NSW, and is available for an immediate start. The role pays $48.90 per hour plus penalties and involves 11-hour shifts.

The hiring business is a long-established structural steel fabrication and construction company serving commercial, industrial, and infrastructure projects. Its focus is on producing and installing structural steel to a high standard, with strong attention to safety, productivity, and customer satisfaction.

Work schedule

The roster is based on 11-hour shifts, and each shift includes a 30-minute unpaid meal break.

Key duties

  • Interpret reinforcement drawings accurately.
  • Cut, bend, and tie reinforcement steel as required.
  • Install reo mesh, reinforcing bars, and reinforcement cages.
  • Fit spacers, chairs, and other reinforcement supports.
  • Help prepare for concrete placement and related tasks.
  • Coordinate closely with formwork and concreting teams.
  • Keep reinforcement work within quality expectations and tolerance standards.
  • Work in line with site safety rules and procedures at all times.

Requirements

  • Valid Construction White Card.
  • Proven experience in steel fixing.
  • Current driver's licence.
  • Good physical fitness and the ability to handle manual tasks.
  • Willingness and ability to pass drug and alcohol screening.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Defence site clearance if needed.

Preferred experience and tickets

  • Working at Heights certification.
  • EWP qualification.
  • Rigging or dogging tickets.
  • Experience on Tier 1 or major infrastructure projects.
  • Ability to read structural drawings.
