- Keep accounting records accurate by posting routine entries, updating support schedules, and ensuring client files remain complete and current.
- Prepare and reconcile bank, credit card, and other balance sheet accounts as assigned.
- Assist with the month-end close by collecting backup, building schedules, and tracking open accounting items through completion.
Systems, Tools, and Automation
- Work in modern accounting platforms such as QuickBooks Online, Bill.com, Gusto, Deel, and similar applications.
- Use Slack, project management software, and shared workflows to coordinate tasks across teams.
- Look for ways to improve recurring accounting routines and make them more efficient.
- Spot inefficiencies and recommend more streamlined, system-based methods.
- Support the rollout and setup of new tools and systems across client accounts.
- Help develop standardized, repeatable processes across the firm.
Operations and Coordination
- Track recurring accounting work in the project management system and follow up with teammates on deadlines, dependencies, and missing details.
- Maintain orderly digital records for payroll, AP, AR, reconciliations, and month-end support material.
- Communicate professionally with clients and internal teammates about routine requests, open questions, and daily deliverables.
Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree or associate degree in accounting, finance, or a related field is preferred.
- 0 to 2 years of relevant experience in bookkeeping, accounting operations, payroll, or staff accounting.
- Working understanding of accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger processes.
- Strong organization and the ability to stay on top of recurring deadlines.
- Comfort with learning new software quickly and adapting to changing tools.
- Interest in automation, efficiency, and workflow improvement.
- Familiarity with tools such as Slack, Notion, and Airtable, or similar systems, is desirable.
- Curiosity about how technology can improve accounting work.
