Role Overview
The SSCM Specialist will take ownership of endpoint software and system management activities within an enterprise environment, with a strong focus on Microsoft SCCM/MECM. The role plays a central part in patching, packaging, deployment, reporting, and operational support for managed workstations.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the monthly rollout of Microsoft Windows and Office patches across company endpoints.
- Build and configure update packages, then validate them in test environments before wider release.
- Run pilot deployments with selected user groups and coordinate large-scale enterprise-wide distribution.
- Track installation results, investigate issues, and resolve any deployment-related anomalies.
- Ensure patching activities remain aligned with security standards and GDPR requirements.
- Manage the full software lifecycle through Microsoft SCCM, including packaging, deployment, installation, update, and removal activities.
- Collect and assess application requirements, then verify and validate software sources.
- Create, maintain, and configure SCCM packages, applications, and target collections.
- Plan and execute test, pilot, and mass distribution phases for software releases.
- Support operating system deployment activities through SCCM, including image creation and ongoing maintenance.
- Adjust and maintain task sequences and related OSD workflows.
- Improve endpoint provisioning processes and provide specialist support to infrastructure teams.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot issues on SCCM-managed endpoints and assist the Local System Administrator when needed.
- Prepare technical and operational reports covering hardware and software inventory, endpoint compliance, software distribution status, patching status, and application/license lifecycle.
- Use native SCCM tools and SQL queries to produce advanced reporting outputs.
Requirements
- Established hands-on experience with Microsoft SCCM/MECM.
- Practical background in software packaging and software distribution.
- Strong understanding of patch management and operating system deployment processes.
- Experience working with task sequences and system images.
- Solid troubleshooting ability and a structured approach to problem solving.
- Working knowledge of SQL for enhanced reporting.
- Ability to work independently and manage responsibilities in complex enterprise environments.
