Role overview
This position is focused on procurement for manufacturing operations. The role involves validating vendor specifications against technical needs, carrying out a second stage of price and terms negotiation, identifying alternate suppliers when needed, and managing a specific item, category, or procurement scope across manufacturing sites or project procurement activities.
Key responsibilities
- Raise enquiries for critical items based on user requirements.
- Review and confirm that the user’s technical need aligns with the vendor’s technical proposal.
- Handle the second round of negotiations with suppliers and share deal details with the buying manager when approval is required.
- Close the deal directly with the vendor when the value is within the permitted limit.
- Place orders for finalized items and update the relevant entries in SAP.
- Respond to and help resolve internal and external audit queries related to procurement.
- Support other buyers in resolving audit and procurement-related issues.
Education
Engineering degree required: B.Tech / B.E.
Experience
The role calls for 6 to 9 years of experience with exposure to category sourcing and manufacturing environments.
Desired background
- Prior experience in category-based purchasing is preferred.
- Exposure to supply management in a plant operations setting is desirable.
