Role Summary
The Specialist Poison Control position is a full-time, on-site role in Doha, Qatar. In this role, you will answer poison-related questions from healthcare teams, emergency responders, and members of the public, offering clear, evidence-based advice on assessment, treatment, and follow-up care.
The work involves call triage, gathering detailed exposure information, assessing clinical risk, and advising on appropriate interventions and monitoring. You will also keep thorough records, assist with toxicology case reviews, and help update internal procedures and reference resources.
On a daily basis, the position includes working with clinical colleagues, taking part in training and emergency drills, contributing to public health and safety efforts, and continuing professional learning to remain up to date with toxicology and poisoning-management guidance.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate should have a clinical background in medicine, pharmacy, nursing, toxicology, or another related health discipline. Experience in emergency, critical care, or acute care environments is preferred.
Strong knowledge of toxicology, common poisons, medications, and chemical exposures is important, along with the ability to interpret clinical findings and risk indicators.
You should be able to communicate calmly and clearly by phone, especially when advising people in urgent or stressful situations.
Accuracy in case documentation, adherence to protocols, and familiarity with clinical decision-support tools and medical databases are essential.
Excellent attention to detail, reliable clinical judgment, and the ability to manage several cases at once in a busy setting are also required.
Confidentiality, patient safety, and compliance with ethical and regulatory requirements must be upheld at all times.
The role requires shift flexibility, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
A bachelor’s degree or above in a relevant field is required. Additional training or certification in poison control or medical toxicology will be considered an advantage.
Prior experience in a poison control center, emergency call center, or similar setting is highly desirable.
English fluency is required; knowledge of Arabic or another language is also beneficial.
