Role overview
The Sourcing Specialist partners with colleagues across the department and with other business teams to support product development and sourcing goals. This role requires experience with hardline products, product development, and factory assessments with overseas manufacturers. Success in this position depends on strong time management, the ability to handle several active priorities at once, and a willingness to learn. Effective communication and collaboration across multiple teams are key, and the role offers the chance to contribute meaningfully and grow within the organization.
Core duties
- Build a strong working knowledge of the product assortment.
- Gain a clear understanding of the company’s databases and how they connect so information stays aligned.
- Support the team in developing a strategic vendor network for priority categories.
- Develop the ability to assess whether vendors can deliver on schedule, maintain quality standards, and meet target cost requirements.
- Learn the company’s process for identifying, evaluating, and choosing suppliers for products sold by the business.
- Support product line transitions by helping source suitable vendors, manage product costing, coordinate samples, and contribute to quality testing in internal labs.
- Learn how to identify product opportunities that strengthen the assortment by comparing vendor input, portfolio data, and market trends, then present ideas to cross-functional partners.
- Work effectively under urgency and deadline-driven conditions.
- Partner daily with merchandising, packaging, quality, manuals, and sourcing teams to support broader business goals and understand the full impact of decisions.
Scope of role
- Coverage includes all U.S. locations across a single category, region, district, or distribution center.
- Travel is expected at a level of 15% to 30%, including overseas travel.
- The position is based at the corporate headquarters.
Compensation and benefits
The expected annual pay for this role is between $87,600 and $131,500, with the exact offer influenced by location, knowledge, skills, education, and experience. The position is also eligible for an annual discretionary bonus. Benefits include medical, dental, and vision coverage, life insurance, short-term and long-term disability, and access to the company 401(k) plan for eligible associates. Paid time off accrues up to 236 hours per year, including PTO, floating holidays, and paid holidays. Paid sick leave accrues up to 80 hours per year unless a different amount is required by law.
