Job description

Role overview

We The People is looking for a Social Video Content Editor to join its Auckland-based team. This position is ideal for someone who naturally spots the important details in an edit — timing, pacing, hooks and the moments that make content work. The role is centred on creating social-first video that feels polished, relevant and native to the platform it appears on.

The agency works at the meeting point of culture, creativity and speed, helping brands shape behaviour and capture attention where it matters most. Its client portfolio includes Jetstar, Uber, Amazon Prime and others.

What you will do

  • Turn social concepts into finished content, taking projects from idea stage through filming, editing and publishing across paid and organic channels.
  • Create video that fits a social-first strategy and adapts well across platforms such as TikTok, Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts.
  • Organise and maintain content schedules so deliverables arrive on time, on brief and at a high quality.
  • Assist with content capture and production, including shoot planning, direction of talent and preparation of platform-specific assets.
  • Work closely with creatives, designers and client service teams to help shape ideas and deliver integrated campaign output.
  • Explain and present your creative choices, including how the content supports wider strategy and goals.
  • Review performance data and apply learnings to improve future edits and content decisions.

What the role calls for

  • At least 2 years of experience in video editing, social content or a similar creative position, preferably in an agency or other fast-moving environment.
  • Strong capability in Adobe Premiere Pro, which is required, along with practical knowledge of After Effects and Photoshop.
  • A solid understanding of short-form video and the factors that influence attention, retention and engagement.
  • A sharp eye for detail and a commitment to producing tidy, refined edits.
  • The ability to stay organised while handling several deadlines and revision rounds at once.
  • A collaborative approach, openness to feedback and the ability to make changes quickly.
  • Strong awareness of culture, trends, formats and changing platform behaviour.

Additional information

This is a permanent full-time position based in the Auckland office. Applicants must have the legal right to live and work in New Zealand.

About the workplace

We The People describes itself as a people-first agency that values culture as much as creative output. The team works on brand projects where the work is highly visible and appreciated, and the role is intended to contribute meaningfully to both the quality of the work and the wider team culture.
