Role Overview

The organization is hiring a Social Media Specialist with strong hands-on experience in Meta platforms. This position will shape both organic and paid social efforts, strengthen audience engagement, and convert brand storytelling into measurable outcomes across Facebook and Instagram.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and manage a unified Facebook and Instagram strategy that supports awareness, engagement, fundraising, volunteer recruitment, and program participation.
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly campaign plans with defined goals, audience segments, creative direction, budgets, and performance indicators.
  • Develop an always-active engagement plan focused on audience growth, retention, and supporter activation.
  • Set up and optimize paid campaigns in Meta Ads Manager for traffic, engagement, lead generation, and conversions or donations where relevant.
  • Create, test, and refine audiences such as custom, lookalike, interest-based, and retargeting groups based on performance data.
  • Run A/B experiments on creatives, copy, placements, and audiences to improve efficiency and results.
  • Oversee budgets, pacing, and reporting while keeping campaigns aligned with Meta rules and not-for-profit expectations.
  • Develop and schedule content for Facebook and Instagram formats including Reels, Stories, carousels, live content, and standard posts.
  • Handle day-to-day community engagement by answering comments and direct messages, moderating discussions, and escalating sensitive matters when needed.
  • Work with internal teams to gather impact stories and convert them into content that fits each platform.
  • Write compelling social copy that reflects an inspiring, inclusive, and action-driven brand voice.
  • Produce or coordinate creative assets, including basic design and video editing work, using Adobe tools such as Photoshop and Illustrator.
  • Maintain a content calendar and keep publishing efforts organized and consistent.
  • Protect branding consistency, accessibility standards, and cultural sensitivity across all content.
  • Monitor performance through Meta Business Suite, Ads Manager, and reporting tools, then translate results into insights and next steps.
  • Track KPIs such as reach, engagement rate, follower growth, CTR, CPC/CPM, leads, donations, and overall ROI where applicable.
  • Recommend ongoing improvements based on trends, platform changes, and audience behavior.
  • Coordinate with influencers or community partners when relevant.
  • Support cross-channel campaigns with email and web teams to improve landing pages, donation flows, and sign-up paths.

Required Qualifications

  • Proven background managing Facebook and Instagram for an organization, ideally in a not-for-profit, social impact, education, health, or community-services setting.
  • Strong command of Meta Ads Manager, including campaign creation, targeting, retargeting, and optimization.
  • Ability to build real engagement strategies that go beyond posting and support community growth.
  • Excellent storytelling and copywriting skills adapted for Meta platforms.
  • Comfort working with analytics and using data to guide decisions.
  • Experience with content planning tools such as Meta Business Suite, Later, Hootsuite, or Buffer, plus creative tools like Adobe Suite.
  • Preferred background of 3+ years in fundraising or lead-generation campaigns such as donations, event signups, or volunteer recruitment.
  • Preferred experience creating designs with Adobe Suite.
  • Working knowledge of pixel setup, conversion tracking, UTM tagging, and basic web analytics such as GA4.
  • Experience working in small teams and managing several priorities at once.
  • Understanding of accessibility best practices for social content.
  • Strong mission-driven communication style and the ability to handle sensitive topics with care.
  • Strategic, organized, adaptable, and able to turn goals into campaigns and campaigns into results.
