Role Summary
This position is for a careful and technically capable Scientific Support Specialist who can carry out routine microbiological testing and analysis in line with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP). The role calls for solid practical experience in microbiological methods, accuracy in laboratory work, and the ability to analyse data effectively to support dependable quality outcomes.
Work Schedule
Standard weekday schedule, Monday to Friday.
Environmental Conditions
This role requires strict compliance with GMP and laboratory safety standards. The work environment involves PPE such as safety glasses, gowning, gloves, lab coats, and ear plugs. It also includes exposure to strong odours from chemicals, lubricants, or biological products, and handling of hazardous or toxic materials.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out approved microbiological tests on raw materials and finished goods, prepare culture media, and perform additional tests as needed.
- Prepare, grow, and preserve microbiological cultures.
- Look after laboratory instruments and make sure they are properly calibrated and working correctly.
- Record findings in the Electronic Lab Notebook and upload information into the LIMS platform (NEXUS).
- Apply both standard and non-standard microbiological testing procedures.
- Keep the laboratory orderly, clean, and stocked to support efficient day-to-day operations.
- Escalate any irregularities, concerns, or process issues promptly to R&D staff and team leads.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Diploma in Life Sciences, Microbiology, or a closely related area, or equivalent practical experience.
- Capable of working on own initiative as well as contributing effectively in a team setting that values inclusion and high performance.
- Highly detail-oriented, systematic, and careful in approach.
- Strong communication and people skills, with the ability to interact well with colleagues and external contacts across varied backgrounds and levels.
- Comfortable using Microsoft Office and data analysis tools, and willing to adopt new technologies quickly.
- Able to perform well in a fast-moving work environment.
- Committed to ongoing learning and professional growth.
