Role overview
This position is for a Site In-Charge responsible for solar operations and maintenance work in Telangana, Gujarat, Bihar, and Jharkhand. The role calls for someone who can independently oversee site-level O&M activities and ensure plant performance, compliance, and team coordination.
Experience required
The ideal candidate should bring 7 to 10 years of experience in solar operations and maintenance. Prior exposure to a single solar plant of at least 50 MW is required. Experience in testing and commissioning of electrical equipment is a strong advantage.
Key responsibilities
- Track the day-to-day performance of all electrical systems and equipment.
- Maintain site records and reports as required by the project.
- Handle coordination and oversight of subcontractors.
- Conduct regular training sessions for team members to support their growth.
- Manage stores, spares, and inventory at site.
- Plan and carry out scheduled preventive maintenance activities.
- Respond to breakdowns quickly and restore operations with minimum delay.
- Perform annual testing of electrical equipment.
- Submit project updates and reports such as DGR, maintenance reports, and breakdown/RCA reports to the Project Manager.
- Implement and sustain the Quality Management System at site.
- Ensure full compliance with EHS standards.
- Follow the requirements laid out in the O&M manual.
- Maintain equipment warranties and guarantees.
- Work toward contractual KPIs, including generation and PR targets.
- Coordinate effectively with internal teams such as reporting managers, supply chain, F&A, and engineering.
- Manage external relationships with clients, vendors, and subcontractors.
- Lead the site team, including engineers and technicians, with a headcount of 15+.
- Use strong knowledge of electrical equipment operation and maintenance principles.
- Support maintenance planning for the solar plant.
- Handle site budget planning and control.
- Understand the terms and conditions of the O&M contract.
Skills and capabilities
The role requires solid technical understanding of solar plant O&M, electrical equipment testing and commissioning, maintenance planning, subcontractor coordination, reporting, stakeholder management, and team leadership. Strong working knowledge of MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint is expected, along with clear verbal communication and basic email writing skills.
Work expectations
The selected candidate will function as the site in-charge and must be comfortable managing operational, technical, administrative, and coordination responsibilities on a daily basis.
