Job description

Role Overview

The Site Civil Engineer will take charge of civil works at renewable EPC project locations, ensuring that site execution matches design intent, agreed timelines, budget limits, safety requirements, quality standards, and regulatory obligations. The position calls for close coordination with multiple engineering functions, contractors, and project stakeholders to keep construction moving smoothly.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee on-site civil works such as foundations, access roads, drainage systems, and related infrastructure.
  • Track daily site activity to confirm that work follows approved drawings, engineering requirements, and safety rules.
  • Check materials, equipment, and construction methods to make sure they meet technical and quality expectations.
  • Follow environmental rules and encourage sustainable construction practices throughout the project.
  • Work closely with project managers, contractors, and subcontractors so civil activities stay on schedule.
  • Coordinate with electrical, mechanical, and environmental teams to ensure all site work is properly integrated.
  • Serve as a site-level contact for client representatives and other stakeholders on civil-related matters.
  • Inspect work regularly and confirm that completed tasks meet project specifications and industry standards.
  • Carry out field testing, including soil compaction, concrete strength, and other material checks, to confirm structural performance.
  • Respond quickly to quality issues and implement corrective measures when needed.
  • Ensure strict compliance with safety procedures and local legal requirements to maintain a safe worksite.
  • Perform routine safety checks and audits to identify and reduce site hazards.
  • Make sure civil works meet statutory, environmental, and regulatory requirements and support any permit or approval needs.
  • Compare actual progress against the project schedule and report delays, deviations, or risks to management.
  • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly progress updates on civil work status.
  • Share observations on site conditions and suggest improvements where they can help execution run better.
  • Support the control of materials and site resources to ensure timely delivery and availability.
  • Verify the quality and quantities of materials received and consumed for civil activities.
  • Ensure materials are stored and handled correctly to avoid damage or loss.
  • Identify site-level civil issues such as design conflicts, shortages, or technical obstacles and work toward practical solutions.
  • Recommend corrective actions that help protect project deadlines and budgets.
  • Maintain accurate records of inspections, completed work, material usage, and all other civil activity.
  • Submit site logs and detailed reports to the project manager, including progress, issues, and any changes or discrepancies.
  • Support documentation required for handover, post-construction checks, and audits.
  • Interact with local authorities, environmental bodies, and other relevant parties when approvals or compliance follow-up is needed.
  • Attend project review meetings and provide updates on site progress and challenges.

Qualifications and Experience

  • A bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or an allied discipline is required.
  • Professional certification such as a licensed engineer credential, or an equivalent qualification, is preferred.
  • Between 2 and 5 years of experience in civil engineering is expected, with renewable energy project exposure being an advantage.
  • Working knowledge of construction management, scheduling, and budgeting is needed.
  • Hands-on ability with civil design and construction software such as AutoCAD and Civil 3D is required.
  • Good understanding of building materials, construction methods, and civil execution techniques is necessary.
  • Awareness of health, safety, and environmental standards in construction is expected.

Desired Skills

  • Leadership and site team coordination
  • Independent decision-making and on-site problem solving
  • Clear communication and strong interpersonal skills
  • Exposure to renewable project environments such as solar parks or wind farms
  • Knowledge of environmental impact assessment practices
  • Familiarity with sustainable construction methods

Work Environment

This is a field-focused role based at project sites, with frequent visits required to monitor ongoing civil work and supervise day-to-day execution. There may also be occasional travel to other project locations, especially during construction and commissioning phases.

Career Growth

This position offers exposure to a fast-growing renewable energy segment and can support long-term progression into senior roles in project management, construction management, or technical leadership.
