Job description

About the Company

Akash Homes is a fast-growing homebuilder based in Edmonton, with active residential communities in Edmonton, Calgary, and Winnipeg. The company focuses on delivering homes with fewer surprises, strong quality standards, and a smoother building experience. Since 2023, the team has expanded rapidly from 17 people to more than 75 in 2025, and the organization continues to scale across Western Canada.

Role Overview

The company is hiring a Site Assistant for its Construction team in Edmonton, Alberta. This is a practical, outdoor-focused role for someone who wants exposure to the full residential construction process and is comfortable supporting day-to-day site operations. The position works closely with the Site Superintendent to help ensure homes are built safely, efficiently, and in line with company standards.

The role offers hands-on learning across multiple construction stages and is designed for someone who can adapt quickly in a fast-moving environment. The company notes that the pace is intense and that one year in the organization can provide learning comparable to several years elsewhere.

First 6-Month Priorities

  • Keep job sites clean, safe, and well organized so work can move smoothly and company standards are maintained.
  • Support quality checks through site inspections, identifying deficiencies, and preparing homes for possession.
  • Develop productive working relationships with Site Superintendents, trades, and internal team members to keep schedules and expectations on track.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain tidy and orderly construction sites through waste removal, sweeping, vacuuming, and snow clearing when needed.
  • Set up and preserve safe access by creating temporary walkways and keeping pathways clear.
  • Help with quality control by preparing homes for inspection and handling general labour work.
  • Support pre-occupancy walkthrough preparation so homes are clean, complete, and ready for clients.
  • Carry out light framing and finishing work such as fitting handrails, garage landings, and other small build items.
  • Complete minor repair work, including framing fixes, drywall touch-ups, painting, deck stair and railing installation, and replacing deck boards.
  • Use hand tools and power tools correctly and safely for assigned tasks.
  • Stay in contact with the Site Superintendent about material deliveries, daily priorities, and timelines.
  • Help encourage trade partners to follow standards and meet deadlines.

What the Employer Is Looking For

  • Previous experience in general labour or residential construction is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of basic construction concepts and site safety practices.
  • Strong ability to manage time and stay organized in a busy environment.
  • Problem-solving mindset with willingness to take initiative.
  • Comfort and confidence using hand tools and power tools.
  • Ability to work on your own while still contributing to a team.
  • Physical capacity to lift materials and work outdoors in changing weather.
  • Reliable transportation is required; having a truck is preferred.
  • A clean Driver’s Abstract is mandatory.

Additional Notes

Formal education is not the main priority for this role. The company is more interested in work ethic, dependability, and the ability to learn quickly in a hands-on setting.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Competitive pay based on experience.
  • Extended health coverage, including dental and vision.
  • RRSP matching program.
  • Support for continuing education and training.
