Job description

About the Company

Martell Group is focused on building people, brands, and ventures that drive real-world impact. Through its four businesses, the team blends audience building, operational strength, and execution to launch scalable products and support ambitious leaders in media, B2B SaaS, and AI.

The company was founded by entrepreneur and investor Dan Martell, whose investments include Udemy, Intercom, and Unbounce. The culture emphasizes leadership, growth, and simplicity, and the team is looking for people who share those values.

Applicants are automatically considered across all open opportunities within the broader group of companies, not only for the role they originally select.

Role Overview

This in-office position in Peachland, British Columbia is for a creative, execution-driven Shortform Creative Lead who will shape and scale short-form video strategy across TikTok, Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts, LinkedIn, and other emerging platforms.

The role blends content strategy, creative leadership, storytelling, and audience growth. It involves spotting trends, generating concepts, guiding shoots, managing editing, and ensuring content contributes to engagement, reach, and business outcomes.

The successful candidate will understand platform algorithms, audience behavior, and the mechanics behind viral content, and will be able to turn ideas into short-form videos that perform strongly. Over time, this person is expected to become the main creative partner for coaching and directing the founder on camera.

Candidates with their own audience or personal brand are especially valued, although this is not mandatory.

Compensation for the role is CAD 75,000 to CAD 85,000 in base pay, along with performance-based incentives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and run a high-volume short-form content plan across several social platforms.
  • Track trends, audience patterns, platform changes, and viral formats to inform content decisions.
  • Develop original content concepts that support brand goals and audience interests.
  • Design content calendars and campaign ideas aimed at improving reach and engagement.
  • Lead the creative planning and execution of short-form video production.
  • Direct on-camera contributors and eventually take charge of directing the founder during shoots.
  • Craft strong hooks, storytelling structures, and formats that hold viewer attention.
  • Experiment continuously with new formats, messaging, and creative approaches.
  • Capture, edit, and refine short-form videos for platform-specific performance.
  • Coordinate with editors or edit content directly when needed.
  • Maintain high standards for pacing, storytelling, visual quality, and retention.
  • Keep production workflows efficient and publishing consistent.
  • Review performance data and audience insights to guide improvements.
  • Adjust content based on watch time, retention, engagement, and conversion signals.
  • Stay current with algorithm updates and evolve strategy accordingly.
  • Contribute to audience growth, brand awareness, lead generation, and revenue-focused initiatives.
  • Partner with marketing, content, and leadership teams to align content with business priorities.
  • Support campaign launches, product promotions, and brand-building efforts.
  • Help document creative systems, content frameworks, and best practices.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of experience creating, producing, or leading short-form content work.
  • Strong working knowledge of TikTok, Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts, and current short-form trends.
  • Proven ability in video editing, storytelling, and content optimization.
  • Solid understanding of social algorithms, retention, and growth tactics.
  • Hands-on experience taking content from concept to final release.
  • Clear communication skills and creative leadership ability.
  • Comfort working in a fast-moving, high-output environment.
  • Preferred: experience growing social media accounts with measurable results.
  • Preferred: a personal social presence; 5,000+ followers is considered an advantage.
  • Preferred: experience directing founders, executives, influencers, or other on-camera talent.
  • Preferred: familiarity with analytics tools and performance reporting.
  • Preferred: background in creator-led, media, education, coaching, or personal-brand businesses.
