Job Summary

Toromont Cat is seeking a dedicated Shop Helper to join our team in London, Ontario. This role is crucial for maintaining an organized and safe workshop environment, directly contributing to the efficient and accurate processing of customer orders. The Shop Helper will provide essential support to Shop Technicians and Supervisors, aiming to enhance overall productivity and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain a safe, environmentally sound, and healthy work environment in compliance with all company policies and initiatives.
  • Provide directed assistance to Shop Technicians and Supervisors to meet business needs.
  • Manage, store, and maintain all necessary tooling, ensuring their safe operation and adherence to calibration expiry dates.
  • Locate and clean equipment, including transporting it to designated areas before and after repairs.
  • Verify component lists and prepare them for technician pickup or shipping.
  • Ensure the cleanliness and organization of the shop and surrounding work areas.
  • Support Contamination Control by maintaining bulk oil, collection sites, and solvent stands according to ISO standards.
  • Properly segregate waste materials as per established company policies.
  • Clean, steam wash, and buff parts as instructed to aid Technicians in repair processes.
  • Occasionally assist Technicians with tasks during on-site road calls.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or a minimum of three years of experience in a similar workshop support role.
  • Possession of a valid G Driver’s License.
  • Physical capability to lift objects weighing between 30 to 50 lbs.
  • Comfort and aptitude for working in a garage-like setting, with a general mechanical understanding.

Additional Information

The listed wage of $25.19 per hour is a base compensation component, with eligibility for additional premiums.
