Role Purpose
The Sewing Technician I role focuses on completing assigned sewing tasks safely and on schedule so customer demand for high-quality beds can be met. The position requires comfort with multiple stitching styles, different sewing or auxiliary machines, and shifting between tasks and work areas with minimal disruption.
Responsibilities
- Carry out 1 to 5 sewing operations in one designated area using commercial sewing equipment and the provided work instructions.
- Set up machines for daily use based on the supplied instructions.
- Work toward hourly output targets while completing primary duties efficiently.
- Follow standardized work procedures and job instructions closely.
- Use safe work practices at all times, including proper personal protective equipment.
- Perform TPM activities and light upkeep on sewing and auxiliary machines.
- Make minor adjustments to machines, needles, and tooling as needed.
- Apply quality standards and explain the Quality 1, 2, 3 process to a manager when needed.
- Identify defects or nonconforming conditions in products or processes and escalate them appropriately.
- Work collaboratively with coworkers and management as part of a team.
- Maintain a neat, organized work area and understand the importance of 5S practices.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED is required.
- Previous experience in textile manufacturing or a sewing-based environment is preferred.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills are needed for coordination with team members.
Compensation and Benefits
The position offers a pay rate of $17.00 per hour and includes an annual company bonus plan. Eligible team members also receive benefits such as medical, pharmacy, dental, life, and disability insurance, a 401(k), paid time off, and additional wellbeing resources.
