Role overview
This opportunity is for a Service Technician at the Harapaki Wind Farm in New Zealand. The role requires the successful candidate to live locally, within a one-hour drive of the site.
As part of Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy, you will contribute to the upkeep and reliability of wind turbine assets by carrying out both planned and reactive maintenance work. Working with the Site Lead for Harapaki Wind Farm, you will help keep the site performing at a high level for the client.
Key responsibilities
- Carry out scheduled and ad hoc inspections, servicing, and repairs on wind turbine towers and related equipment.
- Diagnose and fix mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues, including pitch systems, speed control systems, and converters.
- Manage tools and spare-parts stock used for installations and repair activities.
- Swap out damaged or worn components and maintain clear, accurate records and reports.
- Work in line with SGRE safety expectations and demonstrate strong communication and troubleshooting ability.
- Be comfortable with on-call work, operating in small teams, and working in changing wind conditions.
What you need
- A New Zealand-registered electrical trade qualification and an unrestricted NZ driver’s licence.
- Hands-on experience with risk assessments and Safe Work Method Statements.
- Strong awareness of safety and environmental practices, plus confidence working at heights.
- Good physical fitness and experience using tensioning tools and bolt-torquing equipment.
- Preferred background in the wind sector or large industrial projects, along with EST qualification and GWO certification.
- A strong commitment to safety, performance, and delivering practical solutions with pride in the work.
