About the role

This is an entry-level Laborer / Serviceman position supporting plant maintenance and production work. The role is centered on practical, hands-on tasks that help keep the facility operating smoothly, safely, and efficiently.

Key duties

• Work in line with all safety procedures, use the required protective equipment, and promptly report any equipment or safety issues.
• Carry out manual labor such as trenching, digging, backfilling, shoveling, sweeping, and general site cleanup.
• Support facility upkeep through maintenance assistance, concrete form work, painting, and routine housekeeping.
• Help maintain equipment by applying lubrication and oil, backing up maintenance staff, and responding to callouts when needed.
• Take part in training sessions and meetings, and assist with other job classifications and plant outage activities as required.
• Handle other tasks assigned by management to support overall plant operations.

Qualifications

The employer is looking for someone with a high school diploma or GED, along with relevant hands-on plant experience. Candidates should also be comfortable using computer-based control systems, communicating clearly, reading diagrams, applying basic mechanical knowledge, and working with production-related math. Good judgment and a strong safety mindset are also important.

Working conditions

This position requires strict attention to safety and consistent use of PPE. Work takes place both indoors and outdoors and may involve difficult conditions such as heat, humidity, cold, dust, and noise. The job is physically demanding and can include heavy lifting, climbing, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, shoveling, and operating tools or mobile equipment. Applicants must be able to communicate by phone and radio, hear commands and alarms, and safely work near large mobile equipment and conveyor systems. A physical exam is required, including a back X-ray, vision and hearing tests, functional capability evaluation, respiratory fit test, and drug/alcohol screening.

Schedule and location

The worksite is in Demopolis, Alabama, and the job must be performed in person. Remote work is not available. Shift timing may vary based on operational needs and can include early mornings, late nights, weekends, and holidays.
