The company is hiring a Senior Staff Magnetics Engineer for its Research and Development Centre in Wigram, Christchurch.
Role overview
This position focuses on advancing the simulation capability used to design magnetics and power electronics for Enphase micro-inverters. The role involves technical leadership, research, and hands-on engineering to support next-generation product development and improve the accuracy of simulation-driven design.
Key responsibilities
- Create and improve simulation tools used in the design of next-generation Enphase micro-inverters.
- Study real circuit and magnetic performance to refine and validate simulation models.
- Develop high-frequency magnetic components suitable for large-scale manufacturing in micro-inverters.
- Research emerging magnetic materials and winding methods to support product innovation.
- Guide and mentor hardware engineers in using FEA and Enphase simulation tools.
Required qualifications and experience
- A BE, BSc, Master’s, or PhD in Electrical Engineering, or an equivalent qualification.
- A minimum of 10 years’ experience taking products from concept through to market launch.
- Strong expertise in multiphysics FEA tools such as Comsol, Ansys, CST, FEMM, or similar software for high-frequency magnetics design.
- Practical experience with scripting and circuit simulation tools such as Python and Spice.
- Background in designing power, analog, or digital electronic circuits.
- Exposure to C or FPGA design will be an added advantage.
