About the Role
This position is for an experienced Senior Mine Surveyor based in Brisbane City, Queensland. The role sits within a mining consulting business that supports clients across Australia, New Zealand, and North America, with a focus on digital transformation in extractive operations.
The company works to deliver advanced solutions in survey, geology, geotechnics, optimisation, mine planning, and scheduling for quarry, cement, and industrial minerals operations in Australia, New Zealand, and the United States. It is a Brisbane-based partner of Deswik, Seequent, and Strayos, and has contributed to several first-of-their-kind projects.
The environment is demanding and requires a high level of performance, with an emphasis on solving complex mining challenges through practical and innovative approaches.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate all survey-related work across the business and for clients in Australia and New Zealand.
- Operate the internal drone program and help establish and support client drone programs.
- Configure and assist with the use of GPS rovers for both internal teams and clients.
- Work alongside geology and engineering teams on survey matters and related technical issues.
- Carry out research and development work to trial and validate new geospatial technologies.
- Provide support to the sales team where survey and technology expertise is needed.
The role is mainly Brisbane-based, but it does involve site travel, generally one to two days at a time each month.
Candidate Profile
- You must be a registered surveyor.
- You should be enthusiastic about working with advanced technologies and innovation.
- You need hands-on experience with drone survey operations and the ability to produce accurate and dependable photogrammetry.
- You should understand how to set up and program machine guidance systems and drill rig hole navigation systems.
- You must be comfortable explaining technical concepts clearly to others.
- You should enjoy supporting others and have strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- You need to be a practical problem solver who can identify issues and develop workable solutions.
- You should have strong report writing ability, along with familiarity with document formatting, data management, and file naming standards.
- You need to think in a systems-oriented way and document processes so others can learn from and reuse your methods.
