Job description

Role summary

sweetgreen is hiring a Senior Marketplace Marketing Manager to lead third-party delivery marketing across major platforms. This person will bring deep expertise in marketplace channels and turn it into a clear strategy that supports growth, protects margin, and improves how the brand shows up on delivery apps.

The role calls for someone who is highly analytical, comfortable forming strong opinions from data, and able to build the frameworks needed to measure and improve marketplace performance over time.

What you will own

You will be responsible for both strategy and execution across DoorDash, Uber Eats, and Grubhub. The role includes defining how sweetgreen evaluates success in marketplace channels, shaping promotional thinking, balancing visibility against margin impact, and setting the direction for how the brand should position itself on these platforms in the years ahead.

  • Create the overall marketplace strategy for DoorDash, Uber Eats, and Grubhub while staying current on algorithm updates, new ad products, and competitive shifts.
  • Set the internal standards and measurement approach used to judge marketplace performance.
  • Identify the less obvious strategic tradeoffs in marketplace channels and present a clear recommendation to leadership.
  • Lead and manage a marketplace agency with a mix of strategic oversight and hands-on attention to detail.
  • Build KPIs and reporting systems that provide visibility into performance through platform trends, cohort analysis, and menu-mix insights.
  • Control the full marketing budget across the three platforms, including sponsored listings, in-app placements, push notifications, and promotional tools.
  • Develop a promotion framework that grows volume without causing long-term margin damage.
  • Oversee the digital shelf experience, including menu structure, item prominence, photography standards, and category order.
  • Work with Culinary and Brand teams on launches and limited-time offers so marketplace storefronts reflect sweetgreen’s quality and brand standards.
  • Act as the main contact for DoorDash, Uber Eats, and Grubhub account teams.
  • Partner with Finance on marketplace P&L matters and with Tech and Operations on implementation.
  • Serve as the go-to internal expert on third-party delivery for teams across Digital, Growth, and Loyalty.
  • Coordinate with Legal and Finance on commission structures, contract language, and promotional compliance.

What success looks like

The right candidate will be able to move confidently through ambiguity, build a clear point of view where none exists, and influence senior stakeholders with strong reasoning. This is also an operator role for someone who enjoys creating systems, measuring outcomes, and following through to execution with cross-functional partners.

Experience and qualifications

  • 10+ years working in marketplace or third-party delivery marketing, with direct experience using DoorDash, Uber Eats, and Grubhub.
  • Proven ability to build channel strategy and evaluation models independently rather than only executing pre-existing plans.
  • Comfort using platform ad tools, promotional mechanics, algorithm behavior, and digital merchandising concepts.
  • Strong analytical ability, including assessing incrementality, cannibalization, and brand halo, and turning those inputs into practical recommendations.
  • Background in restaurants, fast casual, or other high-volume retail environments.
  • Track record of managing sizable marketplace media budgets and influencing executive-level stakeholders.
  • Bachelor’s degree is required; an advanced degree is a plus.

Compensation and benefits

Compensation for this role starts within a salary range of USD 102,900 to USD 147,000, based on experience. The position also includes eligibility for a bonus plan.

  • Three medical plan options
  • Dental coverage
  • Vision coverage
  • Flexible PTO
  • 401(k) program
  • HSA and FSA options for employees
  • Complimentary greens
  • Opportunity to make a meaningful impact by helping people grow and connect with real food
