Role overview

The Senior Interior Architect will lead the development, review, and coordination of interior architectural solutions for refurbishment, rehabilitation, fit-out, and workplace improvement assignments. This position combines design thinking, technical depth, space planning, stakeholder communication, and site support to help deliver projects successfully. The selected candidate will work closely with multidisciplinary teams and bring specialist expertise in functionality, user experience, quality, compliance, and operational performance.

Interior architecture and space planning

  • Create interior design solutions that strengthen usability, improve user experience, and support operational efficiency.
  • Carry out space planning, workplace planning, and occupancy analysis.
  • Produce and assess interior layouts, space programs, and concept directions.
  • Examine existing facilities to spot opportunities for upgrading, reconfiguration, and rehabilitation.
  • Contribute to people-focused environments that meet project goals and operational needs.

Rehabilitation and fit-out design

  • Assist with refurbishment, rehabilitation, and interior fit-out work from early concept through delivery.
  • Develop and review interior architecture packages, finish selections, and detailing approaches.
  • Assess current spaces and recommend ways to improve and adapt them.
  • Make sure proposed solutions balance visual quality, practicality, maintenance needs, and budget limits.
  • Help shape design outcomes that are practical and cost-conscious.

FF&E coordination

  • Prepare and evaluate recommendations for Furniture, Fixtures & Equipment (FF&E).
  • Coordinate furniture layouts and workplace design arrangements.
  • Review samples, schedules, specifications, and submissions from suppliers.
  • Support procurement teams with technical evaluation and advice.
  • Keep FF&E choices consistent with the overall design direction.

Design review and technical coordination

  • Examine architectural and interior design packages prepared by consultants and project teams.
  • Take part in coordination workshops and multidisciplinary design reviews.
  • Ensure interior design solutions work well with building systems and operational requirements.
  • Check compliance with regulations, accessibility needs, and project standards.
  • Provide technical feedback and recommendations that improve project results.

Site support and implementation monitoring

  • Perform site inspections during fit-out and construction stages.
  • Track workmanship, material quality, and adherence to approved design documents.
  • Review shop drawings, mock-ups, materials, and contractor proposals.
  • Flag risks, defects, and deviations, and suggest corrective measures.
  • Support effective delivery through hands-on technical oversight.

Stakeholder management

  • Work with clients, consultants, contractors, and project teams to understand goals and requirements.
  • Present design options, technical findings, and recommendations to stakeholders.
  • Help decision-making through clear communication and structured technical reporting.
  • Develop and maintain productive working relationships across project teams.

Reporting and documentation

  • Prepare technical reports, assessment studies, design review comments, and presentation material.
  • Keep project records and issue logs up to date.
  • Contribute to project progress updates and design coordination activities.
  • Ensure design information is properly recorded and communicated.

Qualifications

A bachelor’s degree in Interior Architecture, Interior Design, Architecture, or a closely related field is required. A master’s degree is an advantage. Professional registration or membership with a recognized design or architectural body is preferred. The role calls for 10 to 15 years of experience in interior architecture and fit-out work, with a strong background in rehabilitation, refurbishment, workplace, commercial, cultural, public-sector, or institutional projects. Experience in multidisciplinary design consultancies is expected, and Middle East project exposure is highly desirable.

Technical skills and software

The ideal candidate should bring strong capability in interior architecture, space optimization, workplace planning, and fit-out delivery. Knowledge of rehabilitation and refurbishment processes, building regulations, accessibility requirements, industry standards, FF&E coordination, material selection, specification development, and design quality review is essential. A working understanding of BIM-based coordination is also needed. Proficiency with Revit, AutoCAD, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite, and Microsoft Office Suite is required.
