Senior General Accountant

Job summary

This role is for a seasoned and highly detail-focused Senior General Accountant who will take ownership of day-to-day accounting activities, deliver reliable financial reporting, and ensure adherence to accounting policies and regulatory obligations. The position also plays a key part in month-end and year-end close processes.

The right candidate will bring solid accounting expertise, practical ERP exposure, and the confidence to operate independently in a busy, fast-moving environment.

Key responsibilities

• Keep the general ledger accurate by maintaining and reconciling accounts.
• Record journal entries, accruals, and other accounting adjustments.
• Handle monthly, quarterly, and annual closing tasks.
• Make sure financial transactions and records are complete and correct.
• Prepare financial statements and related schedules in line with applicable accounting standards.
• Review financial information, spot inconsistencies, and resolve them promptly.
• Examine accounts payable and accounts receivable activity.
• Track overdue balances and assist with collection efforts when needed.
• Ensure payments are properly documented and authorized.
• Complete monthly bank reconciliations.
• Reconcile balance sheet accounts and look into any differences.
• Maintain accurate cash flow records and support cash management activities.
• Follow company procedures and accounting rules to maintain compliance.
• Assist with VAT, tax submissions, and statutory reporting.
• Prepare audit support documents and contribute to internal and external audits.
• Work with auditors and, where needed, regulatory bodies.
• Use ERP platforms to process accounting entries and generate reports.
• Look for ways to strengthen accounting processes and internal controls.
• Take part in ERP rollouts, upgrades, or migration activities when required.
• Create management reports and financial analysis summaries.
• Support budgeting and forecasting exercises.
• Share financial data and practical recommendations with management to aid decision-making.

Requirements

• A bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a similar discipline is required.
• Professional qualifications such as CPA, ACCA, CMA, CA, or an equivalent credential are an advantage.
• At least 5–8 years of experience in accounting or finance.
• Strong working knowledge of general ledger accounting, financial reporting, AP, AR, and bank reconciliation.
• Hands-on experience with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, NetSuite, Odoo, or comparable platforms.
• Good command of Microsoft Excel and tools used for financial reporting.
• Strong analytical thinking, planning, and problem-solving abilities.
• High attention to detail and the ability to work to deadlines.
• Background in multinational businesses or rapidly expanding organizations is preferred.
• Experience assisting with audits and tax compliance matters.
• Understanding of IFRS or US GAAP.
• Exposure to ERP implementation or system migration projects is preferred.
• Ability to communicate clearly with different teams and stakeholders.
