Job description
Role overview
This position sits within Bacardi’s quality and production environment in Kolkata and focuses on safeguarding product quality, compliance, and operational control across raw materials, packing materials, finished goods, blending, and related laboratory activities.
Quality assurance and quality control
- Carry out QA/QC checks for raw materials, packing materials, and end-of-line finished products, then share findings with the unit head.
- Perform microbiological testing of raw materials and finished goods and report observations to the unit head.
- Monitor in-process quality checks, including line start-up and changeover activities from water treatment to final packaging.
- Support implementation of SPC/SQC and quality index practices at the site.
- Review and analyze samples connected to customer or consumer complaints and submit findings to the unit head / SQS lead.
- Work with other departments to address rejection-related issues in the unit.
- Investigate non-conformities using appropriate tools, identify corrective and preventive actions, and support CAPA closure.
- Communicate non-conformities to vendors and issue CARs where required.
- Ensure all statutory food-law requirements are followed.
- Confirm that ENA sourced from vendors meets Bacardi India standards.
Laboratory and equipment management
- Calibrate laboratory instruments, maintain a calibration schedule, and manage operations in line with supplier manuals.
- Oversee equipment upkeep according to supplier recommendations.
Development, compliance, and EHS support
- Coordinate with the NPD team on new product development work, standards, SOPs, and knowledge sharing across the unit.
- Help communicate EHS principles, standards, guidelines, and procedures to teams in the unit.
- Participate in periodic monthly EHS meetings and management reviews, and support statutory approvals and compliance.
- Track implementation of EHS KPIs and overall EHS performance at unit level.
- Compile accident MIS reports and ensure incidents are investigated with root-cause analysis.
Blending, production, and inventory control
- Execute spirit blending activities, including ratio calculations for bulk alcohol and water, accurate weighing of ingredients, physical transfer of materials, and simultaneous preparation of different product types without cross-contamination.
- Plan and order wet materials on time, receive bulk alcohol products, transfer products into tanks or barrels, verify quantity accuracy, and inspect tanks and barrels for safety compliance.
- Prepare reports such as receiving reports, blending sheets, tank reports, water reports, quality control reports, and tank inspection reports.
- Carry out monthly stock counts for ENA, GNS, MRS, and processing materials and recommend reorder quantities.
- Conduct periodic checks of blending equipment.
- Handle production order entry, consumption tracking, and loss control in SAP.
