Role overview
Singapore Airlines is seeking a Senior Executive or Assistant Manager to join the Industrial Relations team within the Human Resources Division in Singapore. The person in this role will act as the guardian of the company’s Code of Conduct, oversee the internal grievance and disciplinary workflow, and handle investigations related to employee complaints and misconduct. The position also involves working closely with the airline’s in-house unions on collective bargaining matters.
Key responsibilities
- Safeguard and administer the organisation’s internal disciplinary framework and Code of Conduct.
- Manage employee relations cases, including grievances and related follow-ups.
- Track changes in the employment environment to ensure the company remains aligned with workplace discrimination rules, fair employment practices, and grievance-handling regulations.
- Work closely with internal unions to maintain constructive labour-management relations, particularly during collective bargaining and periods of organisational change.
- Use a data-led approach to evaluate complex employee matters and develop practical solutions that balance employee needs with business requirements.
Requirements
- A university bachelor’s degree is required.
- Prior legal exposure in employment-related matters, along with a solid grasp of local labour laws such as the Employment Act, Industrial Relations Act, and Trade Unions Act, is expected.
- Background in employee relations, investigations, grievance management, or union relations will be an advantage.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking ability, with the capacity to assess issues from multiple angles and interpret data effectively.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the confidence to engage with management, department leaders, and union representatives.
- High emotional maturity and personal integrity.
- A resourceful, self-directed approach, with the ability to suggest workable and practical solutions.
- Familiarity with SuccessFactors HR system would be beneficial.
