Job description

Role overview

This contract opportunity is for a Senior Engineer with Boomi architecture expertise to support client projects in New Zealand. Reporting to a Manager, Senior Manager, or Partner, the role combines solution architecture leadership with hands-on delivery. You will design and implement enterprise integrations using Boomi iPaaS, help shape client integration strategy, and contribute to scalable, secure, and maintainable systems across cloud and on-premise environments.

What you will do

  • Build enterprise-grade integration solutions in Boomi, covering APIs, orchestration flows, data mapping, and event-based integrations.
  • Run discovery discussions with clients to understand business goals, current systems, and integration requirements, then convert those inputs into practical architecture.
  • Act as the primary technical lead on Boomi assignments, making sure solutions follow strong standards for scalability, security, performance, and long-term support.
  • Create and uphold integration patterns, development standards, documentation, unit testing approaches, and deployment practices.
  • Oversee unit testing, peer review, and quality assurance work so deliverables are ready for production.
  • Coach and support Engineer I and Engineer II colleagues, sharing guidance on Boomi development and integration best practices.
  • Communicate directly with clients about technical deliverables, risks, and timelines while keeping expectations aligned.
  • Work with Master Consultants and business development teams on pre-sales tasks such as solution shaping, scope definition, and proposal input.
  • Support integrations involving ERP, CRM, HCM, and industry applications such as NetSuite, Intacct, Microsoft Dynamics, ADP, and Procore.
  • Take part in research, development, and continuous improvement efforts that strengthen delivery methods, tools, and integration capability.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related discipline, or an equivalent mix of education and practical experience.
  • At least 4 years of experience in software engineering or integration development, with direct work on Boomi or a comparable iPaaS platform.
  • Solid knowledge of enterprise integration principles, including APIs, data transformation, workflow orchestration, and hybrid cloud/on-premise setups.
  • Background in a client-facing professional services environment.
  • Strong writing, speaking, and presentation skills, with the ability to explain technical topics to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Preferred: Boomi Professional or Architect certification.
  • Preferred: exposure to other integration platforms or tools such as Azure Integration Services, MuleSoft, Workato, or Celigo.
  • Preferred: experience contributing to pre-sales, solution architecture, or technical sales work.
  • Preferred: familiarity with integration security, compliance, and API management practices.
  • Preferred: experience integrating enterprise applications across sectors such as healthcare, manufacturing, finance, or construction.
  • Ability to plan, prioritize, and stay organised under pressure while meeting budget and delivery deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting ability, with a focus on designing integration solutions that can scale.
  • Capability to lead technical teams and mentor junior engineers while still handling complex hands-on work.
  • Ability to support sales, marketing, and cross-selling activity through technical expertise, presentations, and thought leadership.
  • Comfortable using Microsoft Office and integration design/documentation tools.
