Maas Construct delivers buildings and infrastructure that support communities across regional Australia.

Role Overview

This is a senior commercial position for a skilled Contracts Administrator who will take ownership of subcontract procurement and contract administration across major construction projects. The role focuses on building and managing the subcontract procurement plan for each project, ensuring contract administration runs effectively, and maintaining strong cost control and reporting discipline. This is a full-time permanent role based in Sydney, New South Wales, with occasional travel to project sites.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and manage the subcontract procurement approach for each project, including scope preparation, market enquiries, and tender assessments.
  • Oversee subcontract awarding activities, reviewing submitted tenders and preparing recommendations that match project budgets and timelines.
  • Keep subcontractor registers current and ensure every subcontractor is properly checked, scoped, and contracted before work starts, while also handling variations and claims through timely review, documentation, and resolution.
  • Assist the Senior Contracts Manager with subcontract negotiation and management of commercial risk.
  • Administer monthly subcontractor payment reviews and resolve disputed payment issues.
  • Drive end-of-month cost reporting for assigned packages and protect budget accuracy by identifying variances early.
  • Maintain procurement trackers, variation logs, and extension-of-time registers across allocated projects.

Requirements

  • At least 7 years of experience in contract administration or commercial management within building construction.
  • Proven experience managing subcontract procurement and package letting on large-scale projects.
  • Strong knowledge of construction contract types, SOPA requirements, and subcontract administration practices.
  • A tertiary qualification in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or Commerce.
  • Ability to work with Jonas Premier or a similar construction commercial management platform.
  • Strong commercial judgement, excellent attention to detail, and clear, professional communication skills.
  • Highly organised, with the discipline to handle multiple procurement and reporting tasks at once.
  • Confident in managing subcontractor relationships and working through commercial disputes.

Benefits

  • Join a large, integrated organisation while still working in a focused, project-driven team.
  • Access career development and training opportunities across Maas and the wider listed group.
  • Use an employee benefits platform with discounts on retail, healthcare, gym memberships, and novated leasing.
  • Receive workplace banking benefits through Commonwealth Bank.
  • Be recognised through monthly values awards and internal newsletter acknowledgment.
  • Access a broad health and wellbeing program.
  • Work in a collaborative and supportive environment contributing to meaningful projects across Australia.
