In this role, the communications function is central to sharing those stories in a meaningful way.

Role overview

This is an opportunity for an experienced communications professional to take a senior advisory role, shaping strategy and producing strong storytelling across multiple channels. You will provide both strategic guidance and hands-on delivery across a varied portfolio.

Key duties

  • Plan and execute communications strategies and campaigns.
  • Produce content for digital platforms, print materials and media use.
  • Offer informed communications advice to internal teams and stakeholders.
  • Write media releases, FAQs and core messaging documents.
  • Spot media angles and proactively present them to relevant outlets.
  • Lead communications projects from initiation through completion.
  • Support and coach team members while promoting sound communications practice.

Additional expectations

The role also calls for a culturally aware approach to communication, with messages designed to connect authentically with varied audiences, including Māori.

  • Solid background in strategic communications and content development.
  • Excellent writing and editing capability across a range of formats.
  • Skill in simplifying complex topics into clear, persuasive messages.
  • Experience working with media and handling reputation-related issues.
