Senior Business Analyst

Role overview

This Senior Business Analyst position is a contract assignment lasting about 1 year. The work arrangement is primarily remote, with intermittent in-office collaboration expected for 1 to 2 days at a time. Office locations for these sessions are San Ramon and Dublin, California.

Key responsibilities

You will analyze complex data models and create customized reporting as needed. The position also supports weekly, monthly, and quarterly operating reviews by gathering data, checking inputs, and preparing materials for leadership discussions. In addition, you will build or refresh analyses that help predict business outcomes using multiple variables, and you will develop metrics that support strategic and operational recommendations.

The role includes leading small to mid-sized initiatives related to electrical operations processes. You will also create polished, executive-level presentations, one-pagers, and similar documents that turn complex information into practical business narratives. Another important part of the job is evaluating current processes and helping improve workflows, tools, and reporting structures to increase efficiency and reduce waste.

Required background

A bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Engineering, or a closely related field is required, unless equivalent work experience is available. A higher qualification such as an MBA or other graduate degree is preferred. The employer is looking for at least 4 years of relevant professional experience.

Knowledge and skills

The ideal candidate should understand project management and the full project lifecycle, be comfortable with multiple analytical methods, and have a strong grasp of fundamental analysis and what-if modeling. The role also calls for creative problem-solving, both qualitative and quantitative analysis, and the ability to explain findings clearly to different levels of management. Strong organizational habits, prioritization, multitasking, adaptability, and confidence working through ambiguity are also important, along with advanced use of Microsoft Office and related tools such as Project and Visio.

Technical proficiency

This position requires strong capability in information analysis, KPI and metric tracking, presentation development, visual management, consulting-style problem solving, and project management.
