Job description
Role overview
We Are Social is seeking a Senior Art Director to join its expanding Creative team in Toronto. This position is ideal for a brand-minded creative who is energized by social media, audience behavior, and culture-driven thinking. The role is client-facing and focused on turning business challenges into effective creative solutions through close collaboration.
The agency is built around social connections and develops campaigns designed to spark conversation. Its work has contributed to high-profile, culturally relevant campaigns for brands such as McDonald’s, Adidas, Universal Studios, and YouTube.
What you will do
- Create campaign concepts that can work at a national or global scale.
- Produce polished creative work with strong storytelling and refined craft.
- Take initiative by bringing forward solutions rather than waiting for direction.
- Develop ideas based on cultural shifts and behavioural patterns.
- Build effective working relationships with strategy, client service, and production teams.
- Partner with Strategy and Research & Insights to strengthen creative thinking using cultural context and data.
What the company is looking for
The ideal candidate is quick to adapt in a fast-moving environment, proactive in approach, and motivated to shape trends rather than simply react to them. This person should be able to move ideas from concept through execution, respond constructively to feedback, and bring a strong understanding of what captures social audiences.
Traditional agency experience is not mandatory, though it is an advantage. The role suits someone who is imaginative, culturally aware, and comfortable guiding brands through current and emerging social moments.
Requirements
- At least 6 years of experience in a creative agency environment.
- Strong interest in advertising, culture, design, content creation, and social media.
- Curiosity about platform updates, new features, emerging channels, gaming, blockchain, and web3.
- Experience working on global brands is preferred.
- Ability to art direct, develop concepts, and present ideas with confidence.
- Comfort managing content projects from initial idea through final delivery, including receiving and applying feedback.
- Capability to shape large campaign ideas and oversee the overall visual direction and craft.
- Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to guide, delegate, and lead by example.
- Ability to identify trends, observe audience behavior, uncover insights, and translate them into brand opportunities.
- Knowledge of generative AI tools and capabilities.
Why you will enjoy working here
- Join a globally recognized socially-led creative agency with more than 1,300 professionals worldwide.
- Work in an innovative, entrepreneurial environment that values individuality and strong ideas.
- Benefit from hybrid working, flexible hours, and a short-term work-from-anywhere policy in other regions.
- Receive vacation starting at 3 weeks, plus 1 additional week in summer and during the holidays.
- Take part in agency summer days, with details varying by office.
- Work from modern shared office spaces with coffee, snacks, convenient transit access, and nearby amenities.
- Access dog-friendly offices and private wellness rooms in select locations.
- Enjoy regular team events, learning sessions, career conversations, and internal growth opportunities.
- Be part of initiatives focused on developing and recruiting BIMPOC talent and supporting equity, diversity, and inclusion groups.
- Use flexible benefits and a wellness spending account for expenses such as fitness, pet care, and education.
- Receive mental health support, including virtual therapy, guided iCBT programs, live therapy, and 24/7 clinical access.
