People are at the centre of that approach.

About the Role

This is a senior, hands-on B2B sales position focused on growing the Plates processing business. The role combines account management, new business development, and leadership support. Success will come from winning new customers, expanding revenue from existing accounts, building durable client relationships, and helping improve the performance of the sales team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Find and convert new commercial opportunities across the region.
  • Manage and expand an established portfolio of customers.
  • Prepare precise quotations and pricing calculations.
  • Present product offerings and tailored solutions to clients.
  • Track market activity, sales opportunities, and upcoming projects.
  • Maintain a healthy pipeline and consistently deliver against sales goals.
  • Coach, guide, and support members of the sales team.
  • Help define priorities and focus areas for the team.
  • Assist with onboarding and capability building for junior staff.
  • Serve as an escalation contact for strategic accounts and complicated negotiations.
  • Partner with management to ensure team objectives are achieved.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of experience in B2B or external sales.
  • A strong history of meeting or surpassing sales targets.
  • Clear strength in winning new business and opening doors.
  • Practical experience in quoting, pricing, and margin control.
  • Good numerical understanding and commercial judgement.
  • Confident skills in negotiation and deal closure.
  • Ability to manage pipeline activity and forecast sales accurately.
  • Working knowledge of CRM tools, Excel, and quoting systems.
  • Proven ability to mentor, coach, or guide a small team.
  • Advantageous: experience in steel, manufacturing, or construction.
  • Advantageous: background in technical or solution-led sales.
  • Advantageous: familiarity with plates or other industrial products.
  • Advantageous: prior formal team leadership experience.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary package plus bonus opportunities twice a year.
  • Company vehicle fully maintained by the employer.
  • Provided mobile phone and laptop.
  • Enhanced parental leave support.
  • A supportive, professional, and easy-going workplace culture.
  • Health and wellness programme, including access to on-site gyms at selected locations.

Additional Information

Applicants must currently live in New Zealand or hold a valid work visa to be considered. Because of the nature of the position and the business, the successful candidate will need to complete a pre-employment drug screening as part of the hiring process. The organisation places strong emphasis on health and safety.
