Role overview
Walmart Canada is seeking a Self-Checkout Attendant to support customers at the self-serve checkout area and help create a smooth, positive shopping experience. This role is a strong fit for someone interested in retail or customer service and looking to build practical skills in a busy store environment.
Key duties
- Keep the self-checkout zone tidy, orderly, and free from debris, fixtures, liquids, and other obstacles.
- Guide customers on how to use self-service checkout tools effectively when needed.
- Share information about company-sponsored programs such as credit card offers, product protection, and charity initiatives when applicable.
- Monitor customer activity to identify when support may be required.
- When interventions or quality checks are necessary, clearly and politely explain the reason and reassure customers that such checks are a standard part of self-checkout operations.
- Understand how to respond to EAS alarms and complete the “Failure to Deactivate” log.
- Notify the Customer Service Manager if the self-checkout area is running low on cash or experiencing technical problems.
- Return Scan & Go scanners to their designated location after use.
Pay
The starting wage for this position is $16.50 per hour.
