Role Overview
The Segment Producer will partner with Executive Producers, senior and junior producers, and CNBC Operations to help deliver a live news television program for CNBC International. The role calls for a seasoned news producer with strong editorial instincts and a solid understanding of business and financial markets.
What You Will Do
- Plan, develop, and produce both live and recorded guest segments.
- Contribute fresh segment ideas every day by drawing on a wide range of sources.
- Field produce live and pre-recorded remote segments.
- Spot, evaluate, and book strong guest contributors.
- Carry out guest pre-interviews and coordinate live hits.
- Draft engaging copy and teaser lines.
- Collect supporting materials such as sound bites and video clips for segment packages.
- Support the creation, visualization, and production of show segments.
- Bring inventive concepts for segments and recurring franchises.
- Build and sustain productive relationships with news sources.
- Assist Line Producers with day-to-day show production.
What We’re Looking For
- Strong editorial judgment and sound news sense.
- A proactive self-starter who can work creatively and effectively under tight daily deadlines.
- Excellent people skills and the ability to tell stories visually in a compelling way.
- Comfort with a demanding production schedule, including weekends and some holidays when needed.
- Willingness to travel, sometimes at short notice.
- At least 3 years of experience booking and segment producing in a live television setting, with proven writing, research, and communication skills.
- Knowledge of CNBC news standards is an advantage.
- Strong grasp of markets and prior experience with a financial news network is preferred.
Additional Information
The scope of this role may change over time, and duties can be updated by the company as needed. As part of the hiring process, external candidates may be asked to attend an in-person interview with a VERSANT Media employee at one of the company’s locations before a final hiring decision is made.
