About the Role
Millennium is looking for a driven Security and Cleaning Supervisor to oversee a busy shopping mall site in Invercargill, Southland. This position calls for someone with solid experience in site security, cleaning, building management systems, fire control systems, and the use of standard operating procedures.
This is a full-time onsite opportunity for a person who can lead a team while developing their career in the security and cleaning sector. The roster is Thursday to Monday from 4:00 PM to 12:00 AM.
Security Duties
- Lead and coordinate a team of security officers and cleaners.
- Supervise the site control room and CCTV operations.
- Handle the client relationship on site and provide updates to the regional manager.
- Identify, assess, and reduce risks across the site.
- Respond to assistance requests and alarm activations.
- Apply practical approaches when dealing with persons of interest.
- Communicate clearly and professionally with everyone encountered during duty.
- Operate communication tools, including handheld two-way radios.
- Give guidance and support while remaining approachable and ready to assist.
- Promote a safe workplace and follow health and safety practices.
- Enter information into site and client systems as required by SOPs.
- Support the recruitment and training of new employees.
Cleaning Duties
- Supervise and assist a small cleaning team.
- Plan tasks efficiently so deadlines and service levels are achieved.
- Prioritise work effectively when under pressure.
- Allocate duties, carry out spot inspections, and confirm tasks are completed.
- Coach team members and provide day-to-day guidance.
- Oversee and take part in routine store cleaning activities.
- Meet client rotation requirements and key performance targets.
- Ensure cleaning work follows safety rules and company procedures.
- Keep cleaning equipment in working order and maintain tools properly.
- Handle client requests and feedback in a timely manner.
- Maintain rosters and provide shift cover when needed.
- Assist with recruiting and onboarding new staff.
- Take prompt and appropriate action if accidents or hazards occur.
Key Selection Criteria
The ideal candidate should hold a valid security licence, basic first aid and CPR certification, and a Certificate of Approval (COA). Previous supervisory or management experience in security or cleaning is preferred, and retail site experience is considered highly valuable.
You should have dependable transport, strong verbal and written communication skills, the ability to negotiate and resolve conflict, and the confidence to work independently while following instructions. Attention to detail, stakeholder management ability, reliability, and punctuality are also important.
