Job description
Role Overview
Join a leading financial services firm in Melbourne CBD as a Cyber Security Analyst. This permanent, hands-on opportunity requires a minimum of 4 years industry experience, ideally within enterprise, consultancy, financial services, or banking sectors. You will be part of a collaborative internal security team that values strong ownership, proactive communication, and a can-do attitude.
Responsibilities
- Manage daily security operations spanning cloud environments, network, endpoints, email, and other security facets.
- Enhance visibility, resilience, and response capabilities by working on Azure security, networking, and internal controls.
- Handle real security incidents including investigation, containment, escalation, and remediation—not just alert monitoring.
- Collaborate with internal technology teams and external providers to refine security processes, tools, and outcomes.
- Identify security gaps and proactively implement practical improvements across the environment.
- Utilize various security tools with potential involvement in platforms such as CrowdStrike, Varonis, Palo Alto, and Proofpoint.
Candidate Profile
- Hands-on experience in roles such as cyber security analyst, security engineer, or security operations professional.
- Strong generalist background covering incident handling, tooling, networking, cloud, and operational security.
- Solid expertise in Azure security coupled with networking fundamentals.
- Demonstrated capability in practical incident response managing true incidents beyond mere alert review.
- Reliable, trustworthy, approachable, and committed with a robust work ethic and ownership mentality.
- Familiarity with tools like CrowdStrike, Varonis, Palo Alto, or Proofpoint is advantageous but not mandatory.
- Australian or New Zealand Permanent Residency or Citizenship required.
Compensation & Work Conditions
This role offers a base salary between $140,000 and $150,000 annually alongside a hybrid working environment within Melbourne CBD.
