Job description

Role overview

As a Second Commis Chef in the lounge kitchens, you will support food preparation and service operations while building your culinary skills across different kitchen areas. The role calls for a consistently professional manner and a customer-focused attitude throughout every shift.

Operational responsibilities

  • Carry out day-to-day shift duties in line with standard operating procedures and the direction of the line manager.
  • Support the line manager and wider kitchen team with core tasks, including setting up the kitchen with the items needed for food preparation and obtaining ingredients.
  • Keep product knowledge at the highest possible standard and communicate it clearly to customers during food service.
  • Work closely with the First Commis Chef and Chef de Partie, sharing updates and feedback on service matters and food-related concerns.
  • Escalate any defective kitchen tools or equipment to the line manager.
  • Take part in preparing menu items and other food items, and contribute actively to the presentation of dishes.
  • Coordinate with stores and other departments to make sure ingredients and supplies remain well stocked.
  • Complete any other department-related duties assigned by the Head of Department.

Requirements

  • Basic reading, writing, and number skills.
  • English communication ability suitable for an entry-level position.
  • No previous job-related work experience is required.
  • Ability to encourage and support teamwork among colleagues.
